(Bloomington, IN) 9th District Congressional candidate Shelli Yoder today released a 10-point jobs and job training plan she says will both help jumpstart Southern Indiana’s economy and provide a long-term strategy to bring new prosperity to our area.
“As a jobs-placement specialist, I know there is nothing more important than investing in our economy to ensure that everyone has a decent job and hope for the future,” Yoder said. “In Congress, I will fight for better jobs, better wages, and lead an effort to bring new businesses to the 9th District.”
Yoder, who toured the Plumbers & Steamfitters Apprenticeship Joint Training School in Bloomington Monday, criticized Congress for cutting funds for job training. Yoder said, “This Plumber & Steamfitters joint training center is a fine example of job training we should increase. It’s time we invest again in our future by giving working families more opportunities like this to succeed.”
Yoder’s Job Plan
-
Bring together business, labor leaders, and community groups to launch a new regional job-creation strategy that focuses on bringing sustainable, good-paying jobs to the 9th District, especially infrastructure improvement;
-
Increase support for cutting-edge university and private research to produce new products, industries, and technical jobs, particularly in biotechnology innovation, renewable and green-energy development;
